This is one of Paraguay’s top s. Grown in Bella Vista, Paraguay, the heart of yerba mate country.
Hand harvested only 3 months out of the year and special aged for 2 years before packaging.
It has a smaller leaf cut and more dust because it is mostly used with ice water and a bombilla (terrere). Typical Paraguayan cut of Selecta Tradicional again is similar to Kurupí Clásica — a lot of powder and stems. The only difference I noticed is the coarse cut of the leaves — it resembles the cut of some of the Argentine yerba mate s, like Rosamonte or Piporé.
Selecta is also lightly smoked during the drying process.
The color of Selecta Tradicional is greener than average Paraguayan yerba mate and also is closer to the color of average Argentine yerba mate cut.
The flavors that you get from cold Selecta Tradicional are very pleasant — slightly sweet and sour, spicy and very herbal. It has no bitterness at all and has all characteristics of a light body.
