Western’s favorite, the highest grade of Ceylon Orange Pekoe , Pecco , OP dried loose leaf black tea. Consist of ‘a bud and a leaf’ – long wiry leaves without tips & leaf buds of new flush. Handpicked from the Central highlands of Sri Lanka (previously known as Ceylon) using the balls of fingertips. To avoid bruising, fingernails & mechanical tools were not used.
Grading is based on the size of the individual leaves & flushes, which is determined by their ability to fall through the screens of specific meshes ranging 8–30 mesh & also determines the ‘wholeness’ & level of breakage of each leaf. Because, the size & wholeness of the leaves will have the greatest influence on the taste, charity & brewing time of the tea.
Medium strength, sweet, smooth & well balanced tea. Brew lighter, because the tea takes less surface area in the water, ∴, the tea does not develop a higher strength.
Perfect for afternoons, the tea naturally develops a deep & intense flavor. Orange Pekoe Tea is the common traditional tea that people in the Maritimes tend to think of as ‘Just a plain tea’.
No additives, freshly packed in a clean airtight container with a food grade foil wrap.
