STEEL CUT OATS: The process of taking oat groats (the whole kernel of grain) and running them through a mill that has steel blades that chop the groats into small pieces. The thicker pieces provide a nutty flavor and a thicker texture after cooking.
”IRISH OATMEAL”: Steel-cut oats have a nuttier, chewier texture than rolled oats. There is a little bit longer cook time than with oat flakes, but it is worth the wait. Use them for versatile oatmeal or overnight oat recipes, or for crunchy granola.
